Sniper John Muhammad was sentenced to death today.

Jurors said later that they struggled with imposing the ultimate punishment, even for some of the worst crimes they could imagine, losing sleep and shedding tears while searching their core beliefs. But, they said, Muhammad's apparent lack of remorse, the sheer misery caused by the shootings and the fear that he could kill again in prison swayed them, bringing unanimity to a panel that at one time was divided 8 to 4.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. He cold bloodedly picked people at random and from the safe perch of the sniper's rifle executed them. He didn't care about them, their families, their friends or anything else. He just wanted to kill someone. Anyone.

The death penalty was made for people like this.
